F2S Veggie Van
Learn how this new initiative brings fresh, locally grown, affordable produce directly to Frederick communities!
Food insecurity and poor nutrition remain critical concerns in Frederick County.
The 2025–2028 Community Health Needs Assessment identified lack of access to affordable healthy food as a major issue, with 1 in 7 residents worrying about running out of food. Diet-related illnesses—including heart disease, diabetes, and obesity—are the leading causes of mortality both locally and nationwide.
Unlike processed foods that only alleviate hunger, the Farm to School Veggie Van prioritizes nutrient-rich, whole foods, ensuring families receive essential vitamins and minerals that support long-term health and well-being.
