Lexie Osborne, Food Access Coordinator

Born in Tucson, Arizona, Lexie moved to Frederick, Maryland at the age of eight, and graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School in 2019. Unsure of which career path to pursue, she knew she wanted to help people. Lexie’s great-grandfather had a farm, but she never experienced it and was not exposed to gardening in her youth. She felt called to learn more about gardening and to connect back to the roots of growing. She believes growing your own food or sourcing it locally, brings even more meaning to the food you eat.

Lexie wants to make living in this world a little more peaceful and what better way to start than with food! Food is our fuel, it’s universal, it’s something that connects us. Lexie’s dream is for our youth to grow up and know what it’s like to get their hands dirty in the soil, reconnect with their roots, and find meaning in food. Farm to School has been an amazing place to start. Lexie has enjoyed meeting the community at Frederick County farmers markets and during school-based lessons.
